Sissel Andreassen Gleissman is a Senior Lecturer at Sophiahemmet University and serves as Programme Director for the Nursing Programme as well as Deputy Head of the Department of Nursing Science.
She has been a registered nurse since 1999, having completed her education at Sophiahemmet University. In 2006, she earned her PhD in Medical Science from Karolinska Institutet with the thesis “Life Situation, Information Needs, and Information Seeking in Patients with Oesophageal Cancer and Their Family Members.”
Her research primarily aims to advance knowledge and deepen understanding of what it is like to live with long-term health conditions, as well as the experiences of their family members. By elucidating these groups’ specific needs, her work seeks to enable healthcare professionals to respond in a person-centred way, thereby facilitating everyday life for patients and their family members and make a difference in their lives.
