My research focuses on lifestyle habits and behavior change, and on how physical activity affects health. Lifestyle habits are influenced by factors such as age, gender, income, education, knowledge, and motivation. However, social interaction with others and the surrounding society also have a significant impact on habits and behaviors.

Changing lifestyle habits and maintaining those changes over time is a challenge, but it is important because they have such a strong influence on health. In my research, I develop, together with users, healthcare professionals, and an interdisciplinary research team, behavior change tools that are tailored to the individual.

I also study how different patterns of physical activity affect health. For example, many people are sedentary for most of the day but exercise a few times a week. Others do not engage in any high-intensity exercise but are active in their daily lives and avoid sitting for long periods. The goal of the research is to generate knowledge about the balance between daily activity, high intensity exercise, sedentary behavior, and sleep, with the aim of supporting recommendations for physical activity and sedentary behavior.
